Truth replaces skepticism

Throughout history, people have come in contact with things they don’t understand. Sometimes is natural phenomena, sometimes it’s political ideas, sometimes scientific explorations. But, usually, the initial response is often one of complete ignorance. Ignorance is then often replaced with skepticism the moment a few things are “learned” of it. Those few things may or may not be true; may or may not be representative of what they are learning about. Some doggedly hang on to their skepticism; some create mystical explanation; and a few will seek the truth. And generally speaking, truth will conquer skepticism, ignorance and misunderstanding. Much of the knowledge we take for granted as factual, some generations viewed with skepticism. It is to those who have sought truth we owe our gratitude that we know that truth.

The same is true for things today. We have a tendency in our 21st century mindset to see ourselves as beyond the ignorant skepticism and mystical explanations of previous generations. But, even in our era, where we have information overload, we are prone to the same ignorance, skepticism and misunderstanding. We pride ourselves for our skepticism and our attempts to seek out true understanding. But, in all honesty, our search for truth is very narrow…..we tend to look for information that verifies our initial belief rather than seek out truth. And, in this age of the internet, we can find information that verifies nearly anything we would think. We reject that which doesn’t fit in with our mindset and embrace that which agrees with it. And, just as our ancestors, some doggedly hang on to their skepticism; come create mystical explanations and a few will seek out the truth.

I am involved in-and very passionate about-a ministry that has brought tremendous healing and freedom to many individuals, including myself: Sozo. I’ve sat in on several dozen Sozo sessions and never once failed to see God speak to the individual in a meaningful-often life-
transforming-way. Some have had so many lies replaced with truth they walk out visibly different. Some have simply experienced a sweet encounter with their Lord. Some haven’t had such a dramatic experience, either because their relationship with God has been healthy and strong, or because their defenses are so thick, but God still has spoken to each one. My own Sozo was pivotal in my relationship with God.

But, some are quite skeptical of this ministry. It seems some are even proud of their skepticism. Some speak of it-and me-with derision. Some think it’s evil. Some think it’s of the devil. Some doggedly hang on to their skepticism; some create mystical explanations or reasons; and some seek out the truth. And I love it when that happens, when someone who has been a little skeptical comes to me and seeks out the truth. I’ve had it happen before and again recently. It thrills me to have the opportunity to explain what Sozo is all about to those who are skeptical and want answers….want the truth about it. I’m excited when someone decides that the best way to learn of something they’re not sure about is to seek out someone who is involved rather than google the word ‘sozo’ and see what they find. I wish more people would. I need to do it myself with those things about which I am skeptical.

Skeptical about something? Unsure what it is or what it’s like? Heard rumors about it? Truth is the best way to dispel skepticism, uncertainty and rumors. Seek out the truth…..from someone you know if you can.
