Rock climbing with God

This is simply a dialogue between a loving Father and His child who is yearning for more of Him….desiring a closer walk…..longing for higher planes with Him. He told her it’s can be a lot like rock climbing. There’s risk…..there’s exhilaration…there’s slipping…..there’s reaching…..there’s times of certainty….there’s times of apprehension….but it’s all worth it.

When you’re rock climbing, you may slip some. But, if you’re moving up, you can’t be failing.

So….how do I move up then?

You first reach…for something higher…something better than what you have. Then, you have to grab….grab onto truth…to experience…grab onto that which is above the place you are.

What happens if I make a mistake…just grab onto some loose rocks??? What if I fall?

You might fall….but not any further than the place you drove your last stake. That’s what makes those stakes so important. Those times when you knew that you knew that you knew…those times when My voice was so clear….My presence, so thick….My will, so certain. Those stakes serve 2 purposes. One, they provide solid footing for the next step of the climb. Two, you won’t fall very far…only to the last stake.

Now that you’re over your fear of failing falling…you’ve reached for that something more you’ve seen and you’ve grabbed hold. Now, pull. Mind you, it means leaving the security of that last foothold…the security of something that has held fast….the security of comfort. It means your feet might dangle some….you may feel as if you are suspended in mid-air, not quite certain if you’ll make it to the next plateau. But, My child, pull with all your strength….pull yourself up. You’re not doing it alone. The view is even better up here.

Oh….and don’t forget to drive in another stake. You’ll be needing it soon when you reach again for something higher….when you reach for more of Me.

(This is, with very little editing, guest written by Kari. It is what God revealed to her not long ago. I find it awesome the way He speaks to each of us, encouraging us, strengthening us, calling us to Himself in ways that are unique and profound and personal.)

So many people watch others go rock climbing with God. Some are challenged to try it…to go higher with Him. They want what they see in others. Others are fearful and tentative, waiting. They will someday, but need a little more courage. But, some will turn away and put a sign at the bottom of the mountain, “Warning! Dangerous rocks ahead! Keep off!” They have seen some fall and believe that all will fall. So rather than trust their Guide, they stay off the mountain and use fear to keep others away as well. It’s sad because they will never reach the heights that God would like for them to dance upon.
