It’s ok to take time to lament before moving to praise

In a moment. Everything crashes. That dream He placed in your heart…that He kept breathing life into when all seemed hopeless….that you sacrificed for…is gone…just like that.
This is where you’ve focused your energies, your time, your resources, your heart and soul….suddenly it slips through your fingers and falls to the ground. Dreams, once nurtured in your heart, shattered like glass.
Shattered,
like you’ve never been before
The life you knew
In a thousand pieces on the floor
Words fall short in times like these
This world drives you to your knees
You think you’re never gonna get back
to the you that used to be
Songs and psalms move so quickly from lament to praise.
Get back up.
Take step one.
Leave the darkness
Feel the sun.
Let the shadows fall away
Step into the light of grace.
Yesterday’s a closing door
You don’t live there anymore.
But it feels like we’re still there. But, since we don’t live there….maybe we should move quickly from lament to praise.
Just pick up the pieces and move on. It’s a new beginning.
But that means starting over….and you’re too tired to start over.
I’m tired, I’m worn
My heart is heavy…
My soul feels crushed
While songs and psalms move quickly to praise….it’s ok to take time to lament before moving to praise.
The mind begins to chastise us when we lament. Or if we feel it too deeply or too long. “I’m being too emotional. I need to get a grip on myself.” Thoughts urging us to get over it and get on with it. People need us to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!
Smile, make them think you’re happy
Lie, and say that things are fine
Hide that empty longing that you feel
Don’t ever show it
Just keep your heart concealed.
It’s ok to take time to lament before moving to praise.
It’s ok to feel the pain of loss. To feel it deeply. To weep. To mourn. To lament.
Before moving to praise.
Who will dry the tears that no one sees?
There must be someone to share your silent dreams
Caught like a leaf in the wind
Looking for a friend, where can you turn?

I’ve got you, child.
All I wanna do is lose myself in You
Lean back in your arms and just let go.

There in His arms, you’ll find that it’s ok to lament before moving to praise.
Whisper the words of a prayer
And you’ll find Him there
Arms open wide
Love in His eyes.
It’s there in His arms that we realize the truth of who we are and who He is.
I am no victim.
I live with a vision.
I’m covered by the force of love
Covered in my Savior’s blood.

He is my Father.
I do not wonder
If His plans for me are good
If He’ll come through like He should.
The day will come when praise will once again be on your lips and powerful declaration will come forth.
I know Your thoughts
Your plans for me are good
I know You hold
My future and my hope
Your promises never fail!

The day will come when tears will be wiped away and He stands us back up.
I am standing on every promise that you made
I will see it come to pass in Your name, in Your name.
Jesus I will trust every word I hear You say
I will se it come to pass in Your name, in Your name.
And on that day, “new beginning” will have a more hopeful ring to it.
Joy, comes like the morning
Hope deepens as you grow
And peace beyond there reaches of your soul
Comes flowing through you
For love has made you whole.

We will remember that He always brings purpose to our pain and works everything for our good.
Let every heartbreak
And every scar
Be a picture that reminds you
Who has carried you this far.
‘Cause love sees farther that you ever could
In this moment heaven’s working
Everything for your good.

One day praise will return.
But for now, it’s ok to take time to lament before moving to praise.
I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I’m too weak
Let me see redemption win!
Let me know the struggle ends!
That you can mend a heart that’s frail and torn!
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life!
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn.
I’m worn…my prayers are wearing thin.
I’m worn…even before the day begins.
I’m worn…I’ve lost my will to fight.
I’m worn…heaven come and flood my eyes!
